Mom and Dad in the first pic. Mom has a beautiful pearl necklace on and my dad a nice haircut, process style. This had to be in the early to mid 50's for my brother and I were not born then. I wish my mom would be like that again for she appears to have been a beautiful woman on the inside as well. My dad, we won't go there! My brother at seven or eight years of age.

I am the girl next to my mom with the white hat with green ribbon. My brother has his eyes closed completely. We were living in the Stella Wright Homes, 9th floor in Newark, NJ. That is where my mom gets the term "the projects." For that is what they claimed we lived in.In the black and white photo, I am the girl in the middle. This is Easter Sunday, 1969, I believe.
Mom and Dad standing by that car courting and they are also in the color photo again. My brother decided to put us around them in pics. I am on the left hand side with the green shirt on and big earrings..8th grade. My brothers and sisters around me.

My uncle James Brown memorial talk. He was a great librarian and community activist from Newark. My nieces and nephews, my brother and sister-in-law.

My aunts(9) and uncles(5), including my dad. My dad is on the right on the end. He is the oldest one of the brothers. Grandma had 15 and still made room for us.
My grandparents who taught me by morals and example. I am living righteously today because of them. I try so hard not to ge upset or display negativity, for they were poor materially but rich spiritually.

Great photos Diamond! It is fun to look back at old photos, see how much people have changed (or not). I love older black/white photos. So much history captured within the frame of a 'simple' picture. Keep snapping pics Lady Photographer. I'll see your work in a gallery before long!
Yes, it was fun looking back and seeing the changes with all of us. One thing that changed is there is no closeness now. That is allright though. I don't have time for pettiness. I will be close to whoever wants to be close to me. I love all of them. They my family! My mom and pop..whew...they are so beautiful...And you are right...you are liable to see my works in someones gallery soon if not my own! I am going to keep snapping pics!
